Rough Plumbing

After finishing the floor framing, the plumber came in to install sewer drain lines. In addition to waste water going out, he installed copper water supply lines coming into the house.

The black PVC pipes are drain lines and vents. The thinner copper pipes are the water supply lines.

What we're looking at in the picture above is the full bathroom in the house. In the wall closest to us, the two lines to the left are for hot and cold water for the bathtub. In the middle is the line for the toilet, and the two lines to the right are for the bathroom sink.

Same bathroom, from the garage. The water line on the left is for the tankless water heater. The bathroom lines run along the exterior wall on the right. Hot and cold for the tub, cold for the toilet, and hot and cold for the vanity.

Besides the bathroom and powder room, we see the supply line for the water heater in the photo above, but there are also exterior hose bibs that exit the house.

Here, we have an example of an exterior hose bib. Note that these are a little different than your typical installation, as the high concrete stem wall contributes to a higher than normal wall exit location. It actually ends up being easier on the back to turn on and off.

Another location for water supply is the refrigerator.

See that copper water line towards the bottom right in front of the double joists? That would be for the refrigerator – water dispenser and ice maker.

There will be a lot of action coming up this week. After passing the under-floor inspection last Friday, floor insulation is set to be installed Monday, followed by floor sheathing. The floor skeleton will get covered and the crawl space will truly be crawl-only space with a lot less natural light. Once the subfloor is in place, we'll see some walls start to get framed. Exciting stuff!
